What can you tell me about A/B testing?
Question: What can you tell me about A/B testing? Is that something you so? Can you do that with Adwords? Have the same ad point to different landing pages and compare conversion rates? This seems to be the gold standard for testing and measuring and optimizing Adwords and general website performance.
Answer: Yes, A/B testing is a good practice. The concept is to clearly test two variations in something, gather enough data to make a decision on, then go with the one that works better, then repeat.
It’s perfect in concept. There are two real-life obstacles (that can be overcome, but it’s not usually easy): 1) Funding for aple amount of time to setup and study results. It just takes a lot of time. For smaller businesses, it the results achieved may not payoff right away (warranting the cost of hiring a professional to do the testing). 2) Time. We need to give aple time, WITHOUT changes any other aspects of the process - getting good solid data. The temptation to improve other steps is there. For A/B testing to really work. We must not let anything influence the results, besides A and B themselves.
