Google Steps Ahead of Yahoo
Yahoo seems to be falling behind further. Many of the aspects of Yahoo have been duplicated on other websites. There are so many more players in town than there used to be. While Yahoo has almost always been second to Google in the areas in which they compete, other companies like MySpace are taking users away from Yahoo. Yahoo had bid on YouTube, but Google won it in the end.
I believe Google has the right idea. Build tools that are useful and extremely user-friendly, and if someone is already doing it right - then link to them. An example of this can be seen on the Google Video website. At the end of each video it an option to post the video to your Myspace. How interesting. I can’t see Yahoo, let alone Microsoft try something like that.
