Do Users Like Your Website?
How broad is the range of information on your website?
It’s important to make it obvious on the homepage what your website contains and where a user needs to go. The general rule for a highly effective website is: on any given page, does the user know what they are looking at and what the next step is? If your user knows the purpose of the page they are on and how to reach the goal of that page, than your website is doing a good job.
If it’s not 100% obvious, than you’re webpage(s) need work. If you think you’re happy with a homepage that is 60% clear — ask yourself if you’re happy with 40% of your traffic leaving instantly. What about the next step or page on your website — how clear is that page? how much of a percentage of your users will you loose? Remember: you’ve already lost 40%. If you have 5 steps in your sales or leads process, you can see why the website isn’t doing so well.
Sit down with an employee, a friend, or for best results: a customer and find out how clear the website is to them.
